A Chanel Classic Flap Bag in luxe caviar leather. The Flap Bag has a storied history: it was first debuted by Gabrielle “Coco??Chanel in the ’50s and then later re-envisioned by Karl Lagerfeld in the ’80s. In 2005, Lagerfeld rereleased Coco’s original 2.55 design as the Reissue (2.55 refers to the month and year—February 1955—of Coco’s original design).
The Flap Bag comes in many different styles. The most common materials are calfskin, lambskin and caviar, though it is available in more exotic leathers such as lizard and ostrich. The most common sizes are Mini, Small, Medium, Jumbo and Maxi. Lagerfeld’s design—to which this particular bag belongs—features a leather-woven chain strap and the always-popular Double-C turnlock closure, while Coco’s design has a chain (sans leather) strap and the iconic Mademoiselle lock.
Overall: The exterior is in excellent condition with minor scuffing to the edges of the bag and the edges of the exterior flap. The interior is clean and in excellent condition with faint rubbing (from the straps) to the top black leather of the interior flap and several scratches to the burgundy leather. The hardware remains bright and shiny with no wear.
Accessories: Includes authenticity card, care pamphlet, Chanel booklet, wipe-down cloth, dust bag, box.
